"The BlueFin" is a charming beach cottage located in the historic district of Cape Charles on Virginia's Eastern Shore. This lovely home is only five blocks (0.6 mile) from one-half mile of public beach along the Chesapeake Bay. It is within easy walking distance of the beach, a park with a playground, bakeries, candy store, a shave ice shack, and many other cute shops and restaurants including a local distillery and a cidery. A beautiful front porch graces this historic home (circa 1894) complete with comfortable seating and a wooden porch swing, perfect for a peaceful, early morning coffee, an afternoon rest with a good book, or to catch a cool evening breeze. Inside, the new homeowners have updated the décor to create a bright, clean, and airy space while preserving the historical charm.
This light-filled 2-level home has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms upstairs. There are 2 queen beds with new bedding and 2 sets of full-over-full bunk beds (with an upper bed weight limit of 300 lb and a lower bed weight limit of 450 lb). The house sleeps up to 12. Entering the first floor, the foyer opens to the living room, the private study (perfect for remote working or virtual schooling), the dining room (seats 6-8), the kitchen and the laundry/mudroom that leads out to a big backyard. Outdoor space includes an open front porch, a large fenced in backyard with a brand new brick patio, gas grill, outdoor shower (hot & cold), firepit, and a custom made outdoor table that seats up to 20 people. The new owners have made sure the backyard area is a place you will want to be after spending the day at the beach! There is plenty of beach gear (beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, a beach cart) and a cornhole set.
With the original hardwood floors and wood moldings, eclectically mixed with modern furniture, this home is a cozy retreat for your family and friends. Because it is a historic home, the staircase is narrow and steep and may not be desirable for guests who have mobility issues.
Park and leave your car and hop on a golf cart rental to see all that Cape Charles has to offer. There are plenty of activities to enjoy like summer concerts in the park, beachcombing, water sports, fishing, kayaking, biking, antiquing, cider, wine or bourbon tastings, and visiting our new local craft brewery. There is even a local public library and historical society and museum dedicated to our special town. There is so much to do or you can choose to do nothing at all and relax at this lovely home. That is the best part of staying here.

We traveled to CC for my parents' 60th birthdays. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. This sweet house allowed for mornings on the porch with coffee, evenings by the firepit and even cooking in when it rained. Mason Ave and the beach are within a mile so we were able to walk everywhere. We were a little disappointed because we'd hoped to grill out one night but the grill needed a fair amount of cleaning to be used. Otherwise, everything was in perfect condition. We would definitely return!
