The cottage is wonderful. 3 big bedrooms, 2 baths. The beds were very comfortable. Close to everything at Cape Charles. If I had to change anything, it would be a new washer and dryer. We will be back.

Our family recently stayed at Sand Castle for the second time. This house is a perfect vacation house - plenty of room for 5 of us, super close to the beach, easy walk to Mason St. and all the shops and restaurants Cape Charles has to offer! We love Cape Charles and would definitely stay here again! Chesapeake Properties was great to work with and we would recommend them as well.
We went over the bridge and spent some time in Newport News, went horseback riding and kayaking and spent a lot of time on the beach. Cape Charles is a quaint little beach town.

The leasing office was very helpful. Location near the beach was great and we loved the screened in front porch. Bathrooms are nice and the AC worked great. The house was clean and had everything we needed (kitchenware, washer/dryer, etc). Sand Castle doesn't have high-end furniture or finishes, but it met our needs.

A great location, property needs lots of TLC, new windows and screens, coat of paint in and out, furniture could be updated, master bedroom needs help, faucets, etc. need to be tightened up. The one thing this rental has is a great location.

Great. Clean house but the shower curtain needs to be secured to the wall. NOT the expandable rod!

This cottage was clean and comfortable. The location was terrific for our two dogs: half a block to the beach, and a few to the park. We could walk downtown, where we enjoyed Festive Friday, a great dinner at the Hook U up Gourmet, and some shopping.

The Sand Castle is a cute, cozy beach house within walking distance to the beach, yet far enough away to protect you from it's winds and sand. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Rented house for area wedding. Living room furniture was very comfy. Older home, typical for area but roomy and clean.

So close to the beach, dog friendly, comfortable, clean and a screened in front porch who could ask or more. If you are looking for a high end rental this is not for you. If you are looking for a nice quite clean rental this is it. The downtown is quaint and closes up at 6. So be prepared to stay in at night but who could ask for more entertainment than a fantastic sunset and a beautiful beach to keep you occupied. Dogs tolerated on beach early in morning and late at night. As previously stated this is like having a private beach and so clean. No trash or cigarette butts here. Just warm water and soft waves. If you have little ones the shallowness of the beach will be a plus .If you just want to sit in a beach chair and enjoy the water around your chair this is the beach for you! we will be back. Gave 4 stars for cleanliness only because the front porch and the furniture in need of a cleaning before you could enjoy. Jen made it so easy she stayed in touch with us before trip and was extremely helpful and friendly. A must is the Oyster Bar and the Shanty. Food delicious and atmosphere a bonus.

Very close to the beach. Nice yard for the dog. Nice screened in pirch. greta working air conditioning. Plenty room for 4 adults and 2 children. we did take a small blow up bed. The rental agency replaced a broken house in a timely manner. The kithcen could have used more plates, bowls, and cups. Overall, a fabulous stay.

The vacation locations was perfect. Steps from the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Cottage was roomy, and easy to relax, screen porch, patio, large dining area, eat in kitchen. Clean, fresh, and plentiful linens. Kitchen equipment and grill need upgrade. We worked around it easily. We will return! Great home for a beach vacation, close to Marina where we kept the boat.

The location of the house is great to the beach. However, the kitchen needs big help-Not enough plates to entertain a party of 8 people. Need all new utensils. I do like that there are 2 refrigerators. It would be nice to have a outside shower.

We were coming down to Cape Charles in early April to visit family. Originally we were supposed to stay in a hotel but it ended up being closed when we got there. We found a realtor and they were extremely friendly. They suggested the Sandcastle. It was perfect for us. The town is quiet and our stay here was relaxing. We were so glad that the hotel ended up being closed because this was the perfect home away from home for us.

The house was fine. The water there was a different story. The smell was awful for the first 5 days we were there. A filtration system on that house is definitely needed. The management company was contacted and they worked towards getting plumbers there to do a chlorine flush but because of circumstances they did not get there before we left. Also, if you are barefooted or walking dogs near the beach be most careful...the sand spurs are huge and very painful. Cape Charles is a lovely area and we enjoyed our time there. Several very good restaurants in the area also.

Second trip to Sand Castle and we where just as happy as the first. The location is perfect and the house is the right size for our family. Cape Charles is great little town to get away from the big beach crowds and everyone's been real friendly. Would definitely recommend this home as the perfect place to get away to, and we will be back next year!

This was our first time staying in Cape Charles - what a cute, quiet little town! The house is much more spacious than it appears in the pictures. Location is perfect - walk to the beach, to the main street, up to the playground. The only negatives to the house were that the king bed in the master was not very comfortable, there were not enough serving/mixing bowls, and the dryer ran a little hot and burned a couple things. Chesapeake Properties were wonderful and easy to deal with - would not hesitate to use them again! Thanks for a great trip!

We had a lovely, quiet family vacation here. It was exactly what we needed. The house was a delightful two seconds away from the beach on a lovely quiet street with the park (if you have kids) and town an easy walk. The place had everything we needed to unwind; just enjoy doing not much of anything other than the beach and house, the beach and house. The beach is so mellow, clean and shallow for little ones with crabs, snails and minnows to see in the water, castles to build and whatnot. Still you can also rent a paddle board or kayak or just float about on that same beach. The house was clean and causally decorated making it a perfect no-worry spot for family and friends. I hesitate to give a rave review as we want the house available when we come back again! Okay, it was perfect for us. We had all these plans to visit the surrounding areas and sties, but really, just being where we were, waking up the beach outside the door, lazy breakfasts and chilling out was all we did for a week. We visited during a quiet week July week and it was great. We dined out a few times, went in town for ice cream and wandering, coffee shop and such. Very nice all in all. Loved it!

This quaint home is placed in a perfect spot. Just one home from the beach. You can spend time on the screened porch and relax. However, you may need to clean off the porch furniture first, before using it, but it is comfy. The matresses might need a replacement, as well as the interior furnishings and don't expect much in the way of amenities when you arrive, but you can definitely relax and hit the beach easily.

We stayed at the sand castle as a part of our family reunion. We have all fallen in love with Cape Charles. Our cottage was super cute and fit our needs perfectly. We are planning on staying again next year.

We stayed for 2 nights over memorial day weekend. The location is great. Walking distance from the beach. The property could use some refinements. The door knob on the back door kept falling off. When we arrived, the linens/towels were on top of the washing machine. We only received one washcloth. I think there may have been some recent renovations but a few things need to be completed. There was no towel rack in the master bath. It was difficult to figure out where to put a towel. I'm not sure who provides the linens but a matching set would be a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay and none of this was a deal breaker but these minor things would have improved our perception of the place.

The location and house layout was great. Kitchen needed more serving bowls. Property was in need of the pre-seasonal wipe down & freshening - porch furniture was dirty and moldy front door, etc. However, overall we had a great time and would consider returning next year.

The pictures do not show the true size of the house. The home was very clean for a shore house, the hardwood floors are great for keeping the dirt and sand to a minimum. Also, the newly renovated bathrooms where a plus! The location was exactly as it was described to us and the beach is great for small children. Chesapeake properties was very accommodating and easy to work with and I will definitely use them again. Overall my family was completely satisfied with our weekend getaway!

My husband and I took a few night trip to Cape Charles with our young children and small dog. It was a great, sleepy but friendly town with calm beaches and water. We went in mid-April and a lot was closed for the season, but we're looking forward to returning when more is open. The house was older...nothing fancy, but care had been taken to update the bathrooms and bed/bath linens which we appreciated. We loved the screened front porch and friendly neighbors. Overall it was a really great house for little kids and pets and the price was great. We plan to return.

Only complaints: Internet was a little slow, but adequate. The two smaller beds were small for queens...I think they were doubles. The water had a really odd smell like rotten eggs, but we may have been the first visitors of the season.

Pleasant weekend away. Quiet, beautiful beach. Bring your own water, the water has extreme sulfur taste/smell.
